2025 is the fifth anniversary of our Transatlantic Community Quilt project. In 2019, Leisa and I both contributed blocks for the Love & Kisses quilt in Jenni Smith’s Quilting with Liberty Fabrics book. Then, during lockdown, Leisa came up with the idea of creating a quilt with blocks from the US and UK, uniting quilters in their love of Liberty fabrics and providing some well-needed community during the isolation of the pandemic. The photo above is when we met at the Festival of Quilts in 2021 in Jenni Smith's Gallery in front of the original quilt from the book. During this visit, Leisa joined our two halves before returning to the US where it was displayed on Morris Textiles’ booth at QuiltCon in 2022. It then returned to the UK to be shown at FoQ before it was gifted to Alice Caroline's SOS quilt charity. Now, to celebrate our fifth anniversary and to share in the celebration of Liberty's 150th anniversary, we have decided to make not one…not two… but three Love & Kisses Community quilts!
